Walks: Rugged Coastlines and Historic Towns

Galley Head cliff view scaled 400Coastal walks never fail to interest and inspire people and as an island we are fortunate to have some stunning coastlines. An hour’s drive from Annes Grove Gatelodge in Castletownroche will bring you to Ballymacoda for Knocknadoon Head Looped Walk.

The world famous Cliffs of Moher are located not far from our Loop Head Lightkeeper’s House.

Our Salterbridge Gatelodge in Cappoquin, Waterford would work as a perfect base for exploring the nearby historic town of Lismore where you can sign up for an historic town walk.

Clonakilty also offers historic town walks for interested parties and you could stay in one of our two Galley Head Lightkeepers’ houses. Irish revolutionary rebel, Michael Collins, went to school in Clonakilty so you will find much passion for this historic leader in the area and can even visit nearby Beal na mBlath where he was shot dead during the Irish Civil War.

Kilkenny, Ireland’s medieval capital has walking tours exploring a witch’s house and a potentially cursed house… You could stay in our medieval Clomantagh Castle (the tower dates back to the 1430s), spoooooky!
