Irish-food_Irish-farmhouse-cheese-board from Bord Bia scaled height 400Clonakilty Pudding is famous all over the world. The town of Clonakilty has much to offer the food lover. It was the first Fair Trade Town in Ireland and is now part of the Cittaslow (slow food) movement. It has a wonderful Friday food market and a huge selection of award winning restaurants. Need we say any more? If it sounds like a tempting spot, one of our two Lightkeepers’ houses at Galley Head might suit you well. Not to be missed if visiting Cork city is the English Market where you can buy olives and Toonsbridge buffalo milk cheese (from Ireland’s only buffalo dairy farm).

Sheep farming is thriving in Ireland and Wicklow lamb is often something you will see on the menus of top restaurants. The county itself has an abundance of terrific restaurants located all over, from seaside town Greystones inland to Macreddin village and Avoca. You could stay in one of our two Russborough House properties or in Wicklow Head Lighthouse and explore around the area sampling the available fine dining. Look out for Wicklow Baun or Wicklow Blue cheeses on menus.
