THE IRISH LANDMARK EXPERIENCE

The Irish Landmark Trust is a charitable organisation founded in 1992 that saves heritage buildings at risk of being lost through neglect or inappropriate intervention.

We then give the buildings a future by letting them for self catering holidays in Ireland. By staying at an Irish Landmark Trust property you are helping to secure the future of these fascinating heritage buildings. More About Us

Testimonials

I think the Lighthouse Ghost may have been away for the New Year, as despite my coaxing it it never made an appearance, even after I threw down the gauntlet and invited it to partake in the Lighthouse Stair challenge(my time 21 seconds).

Ballealy Cottage, Co.Antrim

Ballealy CottageBallealy Cottage is a 19th Century deerkeeper's cottage on the Shane's Castle estate, beside Lough Neagh, Co. Antrim. Set in a woodland by a stream, Ballealy presents a fairytale appearance of irregular gables and half-hipped roofs, edged with ornate bargeboards of trefoils and bold horned curls. Ballealy is built around a tiny central courtyard and is entered through an arched passageway. The outbuildings include a venison store.

It was built from local blackstone c.1835 for the estate deerkeeper and modelled, in miniature, on the lodge of the Windsor forest ranger, possibly by the architect Richard Morrison. This charming property makes for a peaceful getaway from the routine of everyday life.
